Speaking

Comments from attendees of a class given for the Maryland Municipal League’s Fall Conference, with the Director of the Maryland Governor’s Grants Office and the President of the Capital Association of Grant Professionals
“Three powerhouse instructors. Great session!”
“Speakers did a terrific job.”
“This was one of the most interesting classes, with the best presenters, that I’ve attended in my 4 years at MML. Thank you!”

“I attended the all day seminar — “Getting Your Share of the Pie – The Complete Guide to Finding Grants.” And, I am so glad I did. Ms. Mann not only answered all of my questions, she was engaging, friendly, and she created an environment that offered the opportunity to network with other like minded professionals. The Checklist for Designing the Perfect Project is just one of the helpful tools that I took away from the seminar. I have and will continue to refer to each of the “tools of the trade” often”. P. Daniels

“Valerie, the response to your workshop was overwhelmingly positive. Our membership is hungry for grants information and your class seems to have hit the mark”.

Maryland Municipal League staff, commenting on a workshop co-presented by Valerie Mann at the League’s annual convention in Ocean City, MD

My Standard All-Day Class

I am available to speak at events as well as customized grant writing classes. The standard grant writing class that I give begins at 9:30 a.m. and concludes at 4:30 p.m. I will be happy to come to your location and give one of these standard classes. This class represents a complete course in grant writing from determining your need to searching for grants to writing the grant proposal to administering the project. The following topics are covered:

Introduction, Identifying the Need and Designing the Project
Grant Searches
Tools for Grant Writers
What to Do if the Grant Application is Not Approved
Writing the Grant Application
Grant Administration

Customized Grant Writing Class-I am also available for 1/2 day, full day, or 2-day classes based on the individual needs of the clients. For example, a grant writing class for local governments would provide a different emphasis than a class for non-profits or small businesses. Contact me to discuss this. It is also possible that you would like a class on just one topic- i.e., writing the grant proposal, doing hands-on exercises, searching for grants, grants administration, etc.

Please contact me at 410-726-8303 or by email at vjmann@comcast.net and we can work out the individual details for your event. I customize the terms for each on a case-by-case basis

I have given other trainings for the Maryland Municipal League and have also spoken to the Delaware League of Local Governments and the Washington DC Association of Grant Professionals, as well as the Tennessee Municipal League.
